During our time in Bangkok, a visit here felt essential, and it quickly became one of the most memorable experiences of the trip, not least because it was shared with my father, who later described it as one of the highlights of our journey.
Located within the Four Seasons Hotel Bangkok at Chao Phraya River, BKK Social Club evokes the legendary glamour of Latin America while remaining deeply connected to its Thai setting. As a fellow Latina, I felt at home. Recently named The Best Bar in Asia and ranked No.49 in the world by The World’s 50 Best Bars 2025, it stands as a benchmark for contemporary hospitality in the region.
A Design-Led Journey Through Time and Place
The bar’s interiors are inspired by the Art Nouveau movement of the early 1900s, blending ornamental elegance with warmth and intimacy. The main salon recalls the grandeur of historic Latin American homes, while two semi-outdoor courtyards extend the experience. One is dedicated to Bangkok’s cigar aficionados, complete with a built-in humidor showcasing a carefully curated selection. The other courtyard offers a relaxed yet refined setting for social gatherings, where guests sip rare Champagnes and signature bottled cocktails under the city’s warm night air. Inside, an imposing back bar displays more than 200 bottles, immediately signalling the seriousness of the drinks programme. The space feels glamorous without being ostentatious, inviting guests to linger, converse and explore.
Cocktails as Cultural Storytelling
At the heart of BKK Social Club is its cocktail philosophy. Led by innovative Beverage Manager Philip Bischoff, the menu reflects the drinking cultures of Latin America, infused with local Thai touches. The result is a collection of bespoke cocktails that are expressive, balanced and layered with meaning.

On the evening of our visit, although Philip was not present, we had the pleasure of meeting Godji Dheeradon Dissara, who personally came to our table to explain the concept behind the current menu inspired in Mexico. The menu is split into three sections being People, Places & Parties. In the People’s section, for example, the menu has drinks that praise Carlos Santana and Frida Kahlo. When we inquired about the current menu, Godji’s deep industry knowledge and warm, articulate storytelling added a meaningful dimension to the experience. Learning about the Mexican heritage woven throughout the cocktail programme and hearing that a new menu will be launched next year made the visit even more compelling. I am excited to hear more about the new menu.

Each drink felt carefully considered, from flavour composition to presentation. The cocktails were beautifully balanced and thoughtfully crafted, offering both familiarity and surprise. Among the four cocktails that we tested, our highlights go to the La Capilla (Strawberry Cenote Blanco Tequila — Se Busca Mezcal Peach — Citrus — Sea Salt — Fever-Tree Sparkling Pink Grapefruit) and Carretera (Los Siete Misterios Doba-Yej Mezcal — Pineapple Campari Coffee Vermouth Blend — Olive Saline). La Capilla was created by the legendary Don Javier Delgado Corona, owner and bartender of La Capilla, in Tequila, Mexico. Sweet, sour, a little bitter, and salty, it's a tantalising concoction that ignites all your taste receptors.
