LOŠINJ: THE VILLAS THAT SHOWCASE THE ISLAND’S MOST EXCLUSIVE SIDE

After exploring Lošinj’s hotels in our previous feature, we turn our attention to the island’s most exclusive villas, which blend history, design and high-end service.

Lošinj today has two faces. The old Lošinj preserves its Austro-Hungarian heritage in restored facades, tree-lined alleys and bustling fish markets. The new Lošinj welcomes demanding travellers with tailored service, private chefs, butlers and a portfolio of villas that meet international standards.

The villas from Lošinj Hotels & Villas share essential qualities. All face the Adriatic Sea, many with spacious decks, private pools and well-kept gardens. A standout detail is the use of Murano glass chandeliers and pillars, adding colour and refined craftsmanship to the interiors.

Captain’s Villa Rouge leans into its nautical theme. More than decoration, it is almost a collection, with antique maps, navigation instruments and ship models. Its technical highlight is three fully equipped kitchens, one on each floor, ideal for groups wanting privacy between levels. Outside there is a pool, jacuzzi and dining space with an open view of the sea.

Villa Hygeia is a restored Belle Époque home. Once owned by a shipbuilding family, it now offers large living rooms, a cinema for 10 guests, a climate-controlled wine cellar and broad terraces facing the Adriatic. It suits those who appreciate elegant social spaces in a well-preserved historic setting.

Villa Mirasol delivers careful Art Nouveau details, with hand-painted wallpaper, Georgian fireplaces and a library overlooking the sea. It features Turkish and Finnish baths, a cinema for 11 guests and a separate apartment with three bedrooms and its own living area, making it ideal for families wanting internal independence.

Villa Sea Princess Nika offers seven suites across three floors. Its highlights include a tavern-style wine cellar, a private spa with sauna and gym, an infinity-edge pool and a terrace with jacuzzi and sun loungers overlooking Čikat Bay. A solid choice for guests who value full amenities and outdoor leisure.

Villa Hortensia focuses on discretion and steady service. It offers spacious suites, a private pool, a team with a 24-hour chef and butler, and direct access to the services of the Alhambra and Bellevue hotels. Perfect for those wanting reliable comfort and personalised attention while maintaining privacy.

Beyond the villas, Lošinj offers attractions that make the destination worth it. Traditional regattas, night markets, seafood-based cuisine, crystal-clear beaches and the renovated old town of Mali Lošinj all deliver a Mediterranean address that balances heritage, hospitality and understated luxury.
