Maxi Yacht Rolex Cup 2025: Excellence in Sailing and Time

From 7 to 13 September 2025, Porto Cervo, on Sardinia’s breathtaking Costa Smeralda, will once again host one of the most prestigious events on the international sailing calendar: the Maxi Yacht Rolex Cup. Organised by the Yacht Club Costa Smeralda (YCCS) and supported by the International Maxi Association (IMA), the regatta celebrates 40 years of partnership with its Title Sponsor, Rolex.

Far more than a yacht race, the competition has become a symbol of prestige, tradition, and innovation. It brings together some of the world’s largest and most spectacular monohulls, each over 60 feet in length, and challenges crews made up of the most skilled and respected sailors in the sport.

For us at Avesso Magazine, this event brings together two worlds that our readers hold dear: the world of yachting and the world of fine watchmaking. Two passions that embody the very spirit of excellence and precision.

Rolex and Sailing: A Legacy of Partnership

Since 1985, Rolex has partnered with the YCCS in staging the Maxi Yacht Rolex Cup. Founded in 1905, the Swiss watchmaker is renowned worldwide not only for its iconic timepieces and constant innovation, but also for its longstanding support of disciplines that demand precision, endurance, and teamwork.

In sailing, Rolex has become synonymous with legendary regattas and prestigious yacht clubs, reinforcing its commitment to the pursuit of excellence and to celebrating the sport’s great protagonists. The Maxi Yacht Rolex Cup, in particular, stands as a lasting emblem of that dedication, perfectly balancing tradition, performance, and style.

A Spectacle that Creates Legends

Year after year, Porto Cervo becomes the stage for an extraordinary spectacle where cutting-edge technology meets maritime tradition, and where cooperation is as crucial as speed. More than a regatta, the event is a celebration of collective endeavour — of writing new chapters and building a legacy that extends far beyond the waters of Sardinia.

As Rolex Testimonee Paul Cayard, one of the sport’s greats, once remarked:

“The Maxi Yacht Rolex Cup is like a book. Each edition represents a new chapter. Solid foundations were laid in the early years, and it is now for those competing to continue writing the story, living up to the legacy.”
