Europa Palace Hotel Sanremo: The Revival of a Seaside Icon

Sanremo is a city where time seems to slow down — where the breeze from the Ligurian Sea drifts through the elegant palm-lined Corso Imperatrice, and every corner echoes a kind of timeless glamour. Nestled right at the heart of this cinematic setting is the Europa Palace Hotel, a historic landmark that, after four years of meticulous restoration, officially reopened its doors in January 2025.

Set in a stately building with a light-toned façade, the hotel sits directly across from the iconic Casino di Sanremo, offering guests uninterrupted views of the glittering sea. Its location is enviable: walking distance from the city’s high street shops, promenade, and cultural venues, and a strategic base during major events like the renowned Sanremo Music Festival or the MYBA Charter Show, which brings global attention to the region’s yachting scene.

The hotel features 65 rooms spread across five floors. While the rooms are not particularly spacious, they are thoughtfully designed, marrying historical charm with modern amenities — air conditioning, Wi-Fi, flat-screen TVs — and many offer captivating views of the sea or the vibrant cityscape. Interiors honour the hotel’s past with refined touches: classic silhouettes, soft lighting, and elegant fabrics that bring a sense of calm and comfort.

At the heart of the property is the Rêve Bistrot, the hotel’s all-day dining venue. From leisurely brunches to refined evening dinners and signature cocktails, the restaurant offers a menu inspired by Ligurian cuisine, favouring seasonal ingredients and local flavours. In the evenings, the atmosphere becomes even more vibrant with live music performances, including jazz and soul, which add a lively and sophisticated rhythm to the experience. Facing the Casino and city lights, dining at the Rêve is a seamless blend of gastronomy, entertainment, and Riviera elegance.

Wellness is also part of the experience at Europa Palace. The spa and fitness area includes an indoor pool, Turkish bath, sauna, massage rooms, and a well-equipped gym — ideal for guests looking to unwind or keep a balanced routine during their stay. The ambience is serene and designed for pure relaxation, providing a moment of peace after a full day in Sanremo’s lively streets.

One of the most exciting additions to the hotel is the new panoramic rooftop, set to open at the end of May. I had the privilege of previewing the space ahead of its official launch, and it promises to become one of the city’s most sought-after destinations. With breathtaking 360-degree views over Sanremo and the Ligurian coastline, the rooftop is tastefully decorated in a blend of natural tones and modern design — even featuring live olive trees, a charming nod to the region’s Mediterranean roots. Whether for sunset drinks, private events, or simply admiring the landscape, the rooftop offers a setting that’s both elevated and effortlessly inviting.

The Europa Palace Hotel Sanremo is more than a place to stay — it is a return to authenticity, where elegance is understated, hospitality is sincere, and every corner tells a story of heritage and renewal. For those looking to immerse themselves in the true spirit of Sanremo — with the sea at your feet and the Casino across the road — this is exactly where you’ll want to be.
