A Journey Through The Ivy’s Emerald City
There is something irresistibly captivating about Wicked, a story that dares to retell what we thought we already knew. Long before Dorothy ever followed the yellow brick road, there was Elphaba, the misunderstood girl who would become the Wicked Witch of the West. Her story, filled with courage, friendship and the quest for acceptance, reminds us that even the so-called villains can hold the deepest humanity.
This Halloween, The Ivy Collection embraces that very spirit of transformation and imagination, inviting guests to step into The Emerald City, a world of colour, music and theatre brought to life through taste and experience. It is a celebration that transcends the ordinary, where every dessert and cocktail tells a story of its own.
From 25 October, The Ivy restaurants across the United Kingdom unveil a menu inspired by the magical world of Oz. The star of the season, The Emerald City Apple, is a beautiful creation, a chilled apple parfait resting on a golden blondie, finished with milk foam, raspberry coulis and a whimsical green witch’s hand. It is as enchanting to look at as it is to taste, perfectly balancing nostalgia and artistry.
The cocktails follow the same playful duality that defines Wicked, light and dark, sweet and bold, good and mischievous. Guests can choose between the Rhubarb Bubble, with its delicate blend of vodka, rhubarb and vanilla, or the Emerald Magic Margarita, infused with matcha, honey and a hint of lime. Both are a nod to the contrast between Glinda and Elphaba, the Good Witch and the Wicked one, whose intertwined stories have captivated audiences for more than two decades.
Adding to the sense of theatre, selected Ivy restaurants will host live performances between 31 October and 30 November, with vocal duos performing beloved songs from Wicked The Musical and The Wizard of Oz. The result is a dining experience that feels more like an evening at the theatre, warm, immersive and beautifully staged.
Halloween at The Ivy is never just about pumpkins or potions. It is about storytelling, atmosphere and shared moments that linger long after the night ends. This year, The Ivy’s Emerald City invites us to rediscover wonder through music, flavour and imagination, a celebration that is as spellbinding as the tale that inspired it.
