Brazil Gains a New Fashion Week Alongside São Paulo Fashion Week
After years without an official fashion week to call its own, Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, will host Rio Fashion Week from 15 to 18 April 2026 at Pier Mauá, marking another step towards reviving the city’s fashion calendar. The event launches with a proposal to alternate dates with São Paulo Fashion Week. From 2026 onwards, SPFW will be held in the second half of the year, while Rio Fashion Week will take place in the first semester, ahead of the São Paulo season.
The idea is for the two events to work as complementary calendars, creating space for brands that currently show during SPFW’s first semester to present their collections in Rio de Janeiro, expanding visibility, audiences and market opportunities. The new fashion week will be produced by IMM, which also organises São Paulo Fashion Week, with Paulo Borges leading as creative director.
The announcement signals a renewed momentum for Rio’s runways. Nearly a decade after the final edition of Fashion Rio, for many years the city’s official fashion week, Rio has lacked a dedicated fashion platform. With the arrival of Rio Fashion Week, Brazilian fashion gains fresh pace and opens a new chapter.
