Ser Casasandra Celebrates Ernesto García Sánchez at Zona MACO 2026, Mexico City

Blending art-driven hospitality, contemporary practice, and social commitment, Ser Casasandra, a boutique hotel located on the island of Holbox in the Mexican Caribbean, reaffirms its identity as a living space of creation by celebrating the participation of artist Ernesto García Sánchez at Zona MACO 2026 during CDMX Art Week in Mexico City.

Far beyond a single institutional collaboration, the relationship between Ser Casasandra and the artist has evolved over the years into an ongoing dialogue between art, place, and community. Ernesto García Sánchez, a significant figure in the Mexican contemporary art scene, maintains a deep connection with Holbox, an island on the northern coast of the Yucatán Peninsula. He has taken part in previous editions of the hotel’s Isla Residencia programme, his work forms part of the property’s permanent artistic environment, and his practice extends into educational initiatives with children and teenagers from the local community, reinforcing art as a tool for sensitive formation and cultural inclusion.

His presence at Zona MACO, widely regarded as Latin America’s leading contemporary art fair, represents not only a moment of international visibility, but also the extension of a creative ecosystem that originates outside major urban centres. Held annually in Mexico City, the fair brings together galleries, artists, and institutions from around the world, consolidating the Mexican capital as one of the continent’s most dynamic cultural hubs.

From 4 to 8 February 2026, Ernesto García Sánchez will present his work in the Main Section of the fair, at Booth A106, at Centro Citibanamex, in collaboration with Alejandra Topete Gallery. The presentation expands beyond the traditional exhibition format, with a complementary programme at the gallery that includes a street performance, an exhibition opening, and the talk “Entre Hermanos”, further emphasising the relational dimension of the artist’s practice and the collective nature of his work.

The project reaffirms Ser Casasandra’s vision as more than a luxury hotel. In Holbox, the property positions itself as a cultural platform, fostering long-term relationships between artists and territory, while investing in initiatives that directly impact the local community. Here, hospitality transcends service and becomes a space of encounter, permanence, and creative exchange.

Ernesto García Sánchez’s presentation at Zona MACO 2026 is therefore not an isolated event, but the reflection of an ongoing commitment to art as a force for human connection, cultural expression, and a sense of belonging. At a time when contemporary luxury seeks deeper meaning, Ser Casasandra demonstrates that true sophistication lies in the ability to generate lasting cultural impact, rooted in place and in the people who inhabit it.
